May 9, 2011- Day 14
Where: Sydney to The Entrance, NSW
Dinner: Cereal (also had that for lunch)
I woke up at 7 this morning and really needed to go to the bathroom, how inconvenient! I felt bad about sneaking into the campground again to use the toilet so this time I decided to walk to the train station to use theirs. Gosh, I seriously sound homeless, but it really does make me realize how difficult it would be to be homeless and have to deal with finding public toilets regularly. It's actually a bit tough sometimes! After wards I went back to sleep and after a sleep in we left our prime parking spot by the cemetery. No hauntings or anything last night! I'm sure Australian ghosts are all friendly anyways :)
After much indecision, we finally decided to skip the Blue Mountains which are a little ways west of the city. Apparently it's a really pretty national park, but we've seen a lot of forests so far and we have more to come, so we decided to skip the trip inland and continue north instead. We're technically in the Central Coast now and today we took it very slowly, stopping for a while in the town of Gosford to wander around a mall and get a few items. We were in particularly good moods today (I guess that's what sleeping by a cemetery does for you!) and we really had a good time just kindof hanging out and being a bit lazy after our 4 days walking around Sydney. It's was really overcast and cold today and this evening it finally started to rain.
In a tourist magazine we were given we found a coupon for a 2 for 1 ticket to a swimming complex in a little town nearby. After stopping for some seafood chowder and a quick walk on the beach in the very cute little town of Terragal (?) , we left for the next town to have an evening swim. It felt so good to get in a pool and swim around and then chill in a hot tub for an hour. We really got our moneys worth out of the 2 for 1 ticket! We also got some nice long hot showers after wards. Was that our main motivation in going to the pool tonight? Maybe... ;) But the hot tub really was nice too. We're getting creative with our shower seeking these days.
Tonight we're parked on a street near the beach again in a town called The Entrance. Yes, like The Entrance, Australia. Kindof odd, but OK. It's a cute place and while there aren't public toilets open nearby (I hope I haven't had much to drink lately!) I think it should be an OK place to sleep. We're both really tired after our “swim” which was more like a leisurely paddle. Parking on streets isn't so bad, and it's awesome not to have to pay to stay somewhere, but it kindof sucks not being able to cook food because it feels weird on the street. Tonight I had cereal which doesn't bother me, but if we're going to be parking on streets more often I guess we're going to have to stop and cook dinner in a park or something first.
Not an incredibly eventful day, but certainly a nice leisurely one. Oh yes, and since it's Mother's Day today back home my mom called which is always nice. I love that lady. And we got to video Skype with Pat's mom and family which was fun. Another wonderful family. We have some great families and while I certainly don't want to wish away my time here in Australia, it will be nice to be back closer to the fams. But for now, I'm calling it a night.
The posts are going to be slightly out of order because I am working on watching up on the Sydney days.
I mean *catching* up on the Sydney days
